Harvard Pilgrim is a large health plan in New England, producing a 16-page member magazine named "Your Health" on a quarterly basis.
The challenge in "Your Health" is nailing down the feature package's design concept with the client. Over time, I implemented a pre-layout brainstorming session to get the client thinking about her likes and dislikes upfront, which streamlined the process for developing the feature the "right" way the first time. The client appreciated the opportunity for input, which locked in design direction, and allowed more time for me to get into the meat of the layout.
For the extra effort, the publication has been recognized by many design awards, including: 29th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, Best in Show Award; 30th and 31st Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, Bronze Awards; 2011 MarCom Awards, Platinum; 2014 MarCom Awards, Honorable Mention; a 2014 NESHco Gold Lamplighter Award for the 2013 spring issue's "creative design and photography"; and a 2015 NESHco Gold Lamplighter Award for the 2014 summer issue's "creative design and photography."
